The operation

The procedures are performed by the surgeon whom you wished to consult and who examined you during the consultation(s) prior to the operation.

If you are under local or loco-regional anaesthesia, you can ask any questions you like during the operation.
If you wish, you can also view the operation on a screen, filmed live during the operation.

Monitoring of vital signs
During long-term operations, the pulse rate, pressure, and oxygen content of your blood are measured continuously. The electrocardiogram is displayed on a monitor at all times for major operations. A drip is used to keep an open venous line. An anaesthetist or specialist nurse monitors everything on a constant basis and remains ready to intervene.

Being distressed, anxious or tense has an adverse effect on vital signs. The administration of a tranquiliser (Dormicum, Seresta, Lexotanil) has a favourable relaxing effect. For people who are calm and/or who wish to leave the clinic soon after the operation, it is better not to take anything. In any case, it is preferable of someone goes home with you.

Self-control, self-confidence, confidence in your surgeon and in the care team is better than any premedication. If you still want a tranquiliser, feel free to talk to your surgeon or anaesthetist during the consultation, who will be happy to access them for you.
